Drawing on human consciousness and the fluctuating state of our emotions (the ones we love and the ones we don't!) Ruth's large abstract paintings (between 60cm and 150cm width) aim to translate the abstract and non-physical nature of human emotions, their power, and their movement within our internal environments. Like water, it's often an ebb and flow scenario, peaks and troughs, lows, highs, and when we are fully aware, mindful management.
Each painting is created over 2-3 weeks, with layer upon layer of 2-3 colours built up over time. The abstract-meets-figurative works are on textiles stretched across canvas, with paint, embroidery thread and oil pastel.
